New players are required to post a Roleplay Sample to show how they write. The Roleplay Sample must be written in English, In-Character, in third person POV, past tense, and must between 150 and 700 word-long.
Please check this post for more information.
Please refrain from ingame posting until both your Roleplay Sample and your first Character Profile have been approved by the staff. If you want your character assigned to a ship, this will also require the additional approval of the ship’s Captain or a moderator.
You are able to play multiple characters though we recommend that new players begin with one while they get familiar with playing on the site.
Additional characters must also be approved before ingame posting with them, but you aren't required to submit another Roleplay Sample after your initial player application. Please do not use separate accounts for each character.
A profile containing a bare minimum of information about your character is required (you can find the template here). You do not need to provide every single detail of a character’s life, but a profile must provide enough information for other members to know what they are getting involved with when writing with you. Please do not conceal large amounts of important information about your character as this may be considered as god-moding.
Name & Rank
Your first character must begin at the rank of Ensign, or civilian commoner. Your character must be original, with a name fitting their species and background: playing existing Star Trek characters is not permitted (ie: you won’t be allowed to play Captain Picard or the Borg Queen).
Choosing a Species
Take into account Star Trek canon when choosing a race of your character. For example, Species 8472, magical sentient nebulae, Q, etc are not permitted. We suggest new players stick to Humans or established races that are allied to the Federation/Starfleet.
There can be exceptions to this rule if you can provide a reasonable backstory. You can choose to play characters such as former Borg, androids, delta quadrant races, Klingons etc as long as your biography is approved by the Captain/GM of the ship you wish to play them on or the site moderators.
Due to copyright law and out of respect to artists, we do not allow members to use artwork that isn't theirs* regardless of whether or not you give credit to the artist. This practice comes under art theft.
If you are not able to provide your own artwork, there are sites that can generate avatars, as well as games like Star Trek Online which provide character creation tools for many different Star Trek races. You can also use 'face claims' of actors.
